Global alternative networks for communication are expanding and growing. Its strength lies in the collaboration of social movements organizing campaigns and media reform campaigns which alter information and communication to everyone’s benefit. These networks differ in terms of their location the type of content and their focus however, they are all unison by their non-commercial nature and a resistance to imperialist power systems. International alternative networks include non-profit and private organizations as well as local sites that advocate democratic information reforms and promote communication reforms. They also create new communications infrastructures to facilitate local connections regional and global developments with respect to social movement and movements. They also construct a lattice system of transnational, local (especially south-south) regional and global links that bypass imperial dynamics north-south.
